About
Argentum
Argentum Fine Art Photographers is a group of artists who share a common aesthetic vision. Although our subject matter may vary, our aim is to create art that has a "timeless beauty." The group was founded by Nick Johnson to address a gap in the current trends in fine art photography. For more information on the beliefs and principles that guide the Argentum Fine Art Photographers, please refer to our mission statement.

"Argentum" is the latin word for "silver." The Argentum Fine Art Photographers use silver-based photographic processes to produce the images you see in the portofolios.

Membership into the group is by invitation, although the group is not taking new members at this time. Each member contributes two images to the portfolio, and all artists are free to change their images any time they wish. All decisions concerning individual prints, such as pricing and framing, are made by the individual artists.
About the Images All of the images in this website are printed on gelatin-silver paper and are selenium-toned. Prints are mounted on white, acid-free matting and framed with a thin, black frame (see an example). Sizes that appear in this website refer to approximate sizes of the actual images and do not include the size of the mat and frame.

Website Viewing
Because the artistic material in this website emphasizes image quality, we have optimized it for viewing at a resolution of at least 1024 X 768 (measured by Microsoft Windows standards). At resolutions below the recommended ones, the worst that can happen is that the images will not be as crisp and you will find yourself having to scroll vertically to view images. Future releases of this website will include provisions for lower-resolution systems. In the meantime, to change the resolution in Microsoft Windows, use your right mouse button to click on the desktop, then select Properties from the popup menu, select Settings at the top of the window that appears and make the proper changes to the resolution. You can further enhance your viewing experience in MS Internet Explorer by pressing the F11 key to use full-screen mode. Instructions for adjusting resolutions on the Mac are currently unknown to us (we apologize!).
